Lorraine Barton

Lorraine was educated at Liverpool John Moores University and completed her BVC at Manchester University.  She was called to the Bar by Lincoln’s Inn in 2000 and completed a mixed common-law pupillage at North Church Street Chambers in Sheffield. Prior to joining chambers Lorraine was in-house counsel at MBC Solicitors in Manchester. Lorraine accepts instructions in all areas of the common law with particular emphasis on criminal law, credit hire, personal injury and immigration work.

Lorraine has extensive experience in Criminal Law and regularly acts for both prosecution and defence, in both the Magistrates, Crown Court and appeal hearings.  She regularly advises upon and conducts cases concerning a wide range of matters including robbery, sexual assault, witness intimidation, large scale drug supply, production of cannabis, rape, public order offences, theft, assault’s and perverting the course of justice.

She is also highly regarded for her Prison Law practice and has represented prisoners throughout the country in cases including assaults upon prison guards and prisoners, failing mandatory drug tests and the possession of prohibited articles including mobile phones.  She has also represented prisoners at Parole Board Hearings.

In addition Lorraine’s Police practice includes defending applications for Anti Social Behaviour, Closure Orders and Football Banning Orders as well as appearing on behalf of Liverpool City Council.

Lorraine’s personal injury practice sees her acting for both claimants and defendants in personal injury litigation and her practice covers rta’s, tripping & slipping accidents and has conducted trials at all levels as well as advisory work.

Lorraine also represents both claimant and defence in credit hire matters, on the small claim and fast track.

She has also built up a reputation in Immigration law and has appeared in tribunals all over the country.
